Software and Web Development (with Python and AI Integration) Bootcamp 

​A Web Development Skills Bootcamp is a short, intensive, government-funded training programme that teaches you the technical and practical skills to build websites and web applications — helping you start or progress a career in tech.

​

Who is it suitable for?​

  • People with little coding experience who want to become web developers.

  • Those with some experience who want to upskill or switch careers into tech.

  • Employers who want to train staff in web technologies.

Fees

  • Unemployed: Free

  • Self-Employed: Free

  • Employed: To be paid by the employer:
    ï‚· SME employer (under 250 staff): £420.00
    ï‚· Large employer (250+ staff): £1,260.00

Eligibility

  • Age: 19+, residing in Greater London

  • Must have the right to live and work in the UK

  • No prior BootCamp between April 1, 2024 – August 31 2025

  • Open to unemployed, employed and self-employed individuals

Schedule

  • Runs for 6 weeks, with sessions held three times per week.

  • 10am to 5pm

  • Total Hours: 120 hours

    • Blended learning (online and face-to-face)

Week 1

Python Foundations & Setup

This intensive first week is designed to equip you with the basic knowledge and skills to address the increasing demand for software and web develpment skills within London's technology sectors.

​

What You’ll Learn:

  • Install and configure Python, VS Code, and Git

  • Python syntax basics and coding challenges

  • IDE navigation and terminal commands

  • Creating and calling functions, parameters, and scope

Week 2

Logic, Conditionals & Functions, Loops, Iteration & Problem Solving

Designed to deepen your understanding, the second week offers practical insights and development of key areas in the Software and Web Development landscape.

What You’ll Learn:

  • User flows and information hierarchies

  • Low-fidelity wireframes using Figma or Miro

  • Visual hierarchy, layout, and typography

  • Colour theory and design systems

  • Accessibility and WCAG guidelines

Week 3

Introduction to AI for Developers & Object-Oriented Programming (OOP)

This week focuses on essential knowledge in both AI usage for developers and OOPs, learning the importance of feedback in relation to project success. 

​

What You’ll Learn:

  • Using ChatGPT and GitHub Copilot for code generation

  • Inheritance, encapsulation, and abstraction

  • Large Language Models (LLMs) and what they accomplish

  • Practical integration into coding workflow

Week 4

HTML, CSS & JavaScript for Developers with Python Flask

Gain a solid foundation in the various platforms you may encounter during Software and Web Development during week 4.

What You’ll Learn:

  • HTML tags, semantic structure, page layout

  • CSS styling, Flexbox, grid, transitions

  • JS intro: variables, DOM manipulation, simple interactivity

  • Connecting HTML/CSS with Python backend

  • Code debugging and troubleshooting tips

Week 5

Databases, Full-Stack Development, Project Sprint and Portfolio Development

Week 5 will highlight your knowledge thus far, and you will begin cultivating your online and in-person presence in the Software and Web Development landscape.​

What You’ll Learn:

  • Introduction to SQL and ORMs (e.g. SQLAlchemy)

  • Database fundamentals: tables, rows, CRUD

  • Git/GitHub workflows: commits, branches, pull requests

  • Personal branding: GitHub profile, README writing

  • Final prep for showcase and interviews

Week 6

Employer Engagement & Career Launch

Your final week will be a showcase of your skills and knowledge thus far. Here, you will present your final project and prepare yourself for real-world employment opportunities.

What You’ll Learn:

  • Project showcase and presentations

  • Guest employer panel and Q&A

  • Mock technical interviews

  • Guaranteed interview with a tech employer or hiring partner

  • Support with next steps into apprenticeship, entry role, or freelance opportunities
