About the Role
The Rehabilitation Assistant will engage with adult clients (18-65 years old) who have acquired or traumatic brain injuries and other complex needs, such as a history of substance misuse or mental health challenges. The role focuses on:
● Promoting independence by providing tailored support and guidance in personal care and domestic tasks.
● Enhancing quality of life through meaningful interactions and therapeutic engagement aligned with the organization’s values of "authentic warmth and care."
● Providing compassionate and professional services, enabling clients to achieve their full potential and live as independently as possible.
● Fostering community integration by supporting clients in social, recreational, and leisure activities.
● Contributing to care planning and implementation to ensure client-centered outcomes are met.
Key Responsibilities
1. Deliver high-quality residential care services to clients with brain injuries, mental health issues, or substance misuse challenges.
2. Provide personal and physical care tailored to individual client needs, fostering independence and dignity.
3. Prepare nutritious meals while respecting dietary preferences and requirements.
4. Administer medication safely, following care plan protocols.
5. Support clients in participating in community-based activities to enhance social interaction and integration.
6. Respect and accommodate clients’ emotional, cultural, religious, and personal preferences.
7. Maintain accurate records and contribute to person-centered planning (PCP) processes.
8. Take on keyworker responsibilities as assigned, assisting clients in achieving care plan goals.
9. Participate in team meetings, training, and professional development opportunities to enhance care delivery.
10. Promote and adhere to workplace values, including integrity, choice, hope, and change.
11. Comply with health and safety regulations to maintain a safe environment for clients and staff.
Requirements
Minimum qualifications and skills
Essential:
● Relevant experience in health and social care, particularly with individuals with complex needs.
● Compassionate and caring approach to client support.
● Knowledge of managing challenging behaviors and working in a rehabilitation setting.
● Strong communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills.
● Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
● Ability to undertake daily living tasks (e.g., cooking, cleaning) and maintain clients' dignity and respect during care delivery.
● Basic computer literacy.
Desirable:
● QCF/NVQ Level 2/3 in Residential Care or equivalent qualifications.
● Understanding of mental health, substance misuse, and brain injury issues.
● Experience in keyworking, care planning, and activity coordination.
● Full driving license.
Special Requirements:
● Candidates must be fully vaccinated (or medically exempt) as per Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014.
● An enhanced DBS disclosure is mandatory for this position.
